Is the tooth sensitive to Hot or Cold temperatures?

sensitive tooth

What should we tell patients:

  • Most of the time, cavities do not hurt. Removing decay and placing fillings causes inflammation inside the tooth, leading to sensitivity to hot and cold. It is normal to have sensitivity and a few things may help to using sensitivity toothpaste and taking Ibuprofen. Have you tried those things?

If the patient has tried your recommendations or if they feel that tooth sensitivity is beyond normal we should schedule an appointment to evaluate for additional treatment.
